resolute

In nearing that time of annual resolutions, I am resolute in abjuring absolute (and relative) declarations of reform, reformulation, redress, and reinvention. No to resolutions, though in this space I have toyed with such promises in mid-year posts. No to self-will crusading onward toward millennial perfection. No to riveting reimagined reincarnations of the subjunctive self. Yes to acceptance. Yes to yes.

new year's resolutions

I typically do not make any new year's resolutions. Why would I? At least not out loud or written. So, how y'all doing with yours now that the year is just about half over? Hey, you can throw in the towel on the 2010 resolutions, if you like, and begin drafting the 2011 resolutions, ok?

Fine by me.

resolved to post resolutions

If you recall, I posted my New Year's resolutions back on July 2, 2009.

I really did.

I'd wager that nobody else on the planet beat me to that!

But, alas, there is a touch of irony in all this, since I am not a big fan of new year's resolutions, whether they are uppercase or lowercase or titlecase or small caps.

Those New Year's Resolutions

Now that we are reaching the halfway point of 2009's long march into 2010 (and I hope by 2010 people start saying, "Twenty ten" instead of "Two thousand ten" because, after all, if you remember back to the ol' 20th century, we didn't typically say "Nineteen hundred and ninety-nine"; we said "Nineteen ninety-nine." And rarely did we ever say, "One thousand nine hundred and ninety-nine," except on occasions requiring pomp and exaggerated formality), how are those new year's resolutions coming along?

I didn't make any new year's resolutions.

Did you?

Just asking.
